Audi Concert radio?

I have a 1998 A3 with remote 6 pack CD. The volume control when moved either gives full volume or nothing. Is there a fix for this? If not what is the best radio to replace it with (eg more modern Audi radio or other?). Has anyone got one they could sell me?

it is a faulty chip in the radio nothing to do with the volume control itself, there are several companies that will replace the chip cost varies between 80 and 160

I had the same problem but managed to buy one from a local scrap yard. They even had the code for it. I would still be interested in having the old one repaired. Any ideas ?
