RCA Pearl TH1602-A not being read?

I have a RCA Pearl TH1602-A. I am able to turn the player on and the Pearl logo will come on but is unresponsive. To get it to quit, I have to pull the battery out. I have restored the firmware several times before, but this time, I have yet to find a computer that will read that the Pearl has been inserted. Therefore, I cannot re-install the firmware. How can I get my computer to recognize the player?

Thanks.

i inserted the player without battery into usb and at the same time kepot the play button pushed down. i was patient and finally the computer recognized the
device (USB Human Interface). then downloaded software version v.1.2.5.0 from rca audiovideo to the device. it works fine now. just be patient with it. its really not a bad little player and it has alot of great features (Micro sd and voice recorder and aaa powered) that other devices don' t have and you cant get anymore (try taking your sansa on a camping trip with no electricity)
