HOW CAN I DO A FORCED DOWNLOAD ON MY CRV SAT NAV TO ELIMINATE DISC ERROR?

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DISC ERROR MESSAGE ON MY 2004 CRV SAT NAV AND KEEP SEEING TO TRY A FORCED DOWN LOAD.........HOW DO I DO THIS? DO NOT APPEAR TO BE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL

To force download:

1. Start the engine.
2. Wait until error message appears on screen.
3. Push 'MENU' and 'ZOOM DOWN' switches simultaneously for 2 seconds.
4. Screen turns to SYSTEM LINK page.
5. Press 'NEXT' switch (opens car staus page).
6. Press 'NEXT' switch (opens yaw rate page).
7. Press 'NEXT' switch (opens diagnosis menu page).
8. Select 'UNIT CHECK'.
9. Select 'FORCE DOWN LOAD'.

This answer was originally supplied, on another forum, by a UK Honda dealer.

If you are getting the "Error reading DVD" message, you should go through the procedure for cleaning the DVD laser lens.
I have fixed this error on my CR-V Satnav twice, over the past four years, by cleaning the lens.
