The dishwasher is not draining at the end of the cycle. The end light comes on but the dishwasher is still making the noise it makes for the last part of the cycle, but it has been doing that for hours. It is causing water to back up in the sink.

Your pump could be jammed or possibly has become disconected. Get the dishwasher out and trace the waste pipe back to the pump. Undo the hoses either side of it and see if it spins freely when you trun it with your fingers (NOT with the power on!) I take it you have emptied the pip trap?
