Lead of any type must always be primed before you can paint it without the paint peeling off after a rain. once you have p[rimed the lead flashing you should let it weather a bit before you apply the top coat.

Because there is so much movement on lead expanding and contracting the paint will eventually crack and start peeling. So I agree with John.


Why add another regular maintenance job to what you've already got?.

You can use floor paint if you like - so long as you apply a suitable primer first. Lead isn't meant to be painted, though.....!
