I have this mp3 player and never needed to format it.
The only problem i've found with mine is that audio books play out of order, no idea why.
When connecting it to any pc always make sure the mp3 player is switched off, preferably remove the battery first.
If you plug it into a windows 9x system, drivers will need to be installed for it to function.
But with windows xp its auto detected. Now if you need to format it, use fat and not fat32 or ntfs.

how do i reformat a logik mp3 player

I simply opened the device using properties, then tools, then reformat. I thought it might then refuse to play, and simply act as a memory stick, but its working fine again as an mp3 player. I'm no expert, but it only cost £20 so it was worth a go, and it worked for me.

Solution:
To reformat your Logik Mp3 Player you have to use the CD provided, should be about half the size of a regular disk. Pop that in the driver and open up the the CD in My Computer if not already prompted to. Click on the folder that says Windows 98 & Act to Wav. Once opened double click on Setup, I'm not sure what the others do but they're irrelivant for reformatting the player. Then when the instalation box comes up just follow the steps, usually meaning just click Next > Next > Next > Done.
Finally open up the start pannel, go to all programs and look for Mp3 player tools then click Mp3 Format. When the box comes up make sure the drive says E: and the "Type" Box on the right hand side says Full.
Note: All files on the Mp3 will be erased so if there's anything special on there. BACK-IT-UP On your computer.

And that should work =)

Hi Lorna!

I just bought the same Logik mp3-1gb lcd player a week ago. It was working fine until today. I now get the same error message as you get: "Incorrect Format, reformat the player". Unfortunately Windows XP can't reformat it. I've been looking for a solution using Google, but couldn't find any...

I start to think that this Logik mp3-1gb player is just a piece of crap that cannot be fixed... I don't have the CD provided by Logik at hand, as I am currently travelling. Maybe it would provide some temporary solution to this problem, but in any case I just don't think an mp3-player that freezes so badly and needs to be reformated every week is acceptable at all. As soon as I get back home, I will get a refund and get another mp3 player. I suggest you to do the same. I'll go for a Creative Labs. Mine was unfortunately stolen, but it never failed me.

Sorry I can't suggest any better solution. If anyone has a better one, I would definitely be glad to hear it too.

Guillaume.
