How can I fix my Dyson DC01?

The electric cable has blown on our original Dyson & there doesn't seem to be anywhere where I can get in to replace the cable? Can you help?

Thank you for this. If the Vacuum had sparked at the start stop button, is this the cable or the starter that has blown?

Hinge the dust collection drum out of the way and you'll see a single torx screw that hols a plastic cover in place, just forward of the switch. You can get in here to replace the cable.
