My Bosch fridge/freezer KGV 3120 GB/01 stopped working, but would restart later, i.e. the compressor was OK. The control module printed circuit boards (in the top panel) showed burning around 4 resistors which I replaced; the machine worked for several hours then stopped again.
I was advised that Bosch do not sell replacement control modules because the new ones would also fail! They identified the problem as a sensor built into the fridge wall failing. The sensor (NTC? - measuring evaporation temperature I think) is built in for other markets and can be safely by-passed in the UK climate. You need to identify the correct wires to the sensor, disconnect them, then solder them to each other with clean joints giving zero resistance. A diagram to identify the wires came (free) from John Street at BSH Home Appliances Ltd. [Grand Union House, Old Wolverton Road, Milton Keynes, MK12 5PT Tel.: 01536 431100 Fax: 08451 272181 www.bsh-group.com]. He can also supply a special clip at £14 to help achieve clean joints.
I successfully repaired mine several months ago without the special clip.
If needed you can buy the whole panel across the top of the machine, including the pcb module, from MKS-SPARES(at)bshg.com at £118.38 inc VAT and delivery. Order on line or call 0844 892 8921).
