CD and radio functions ok. But when pressing 'record and play' buttons to tape a Cassette, the record button 'refuses' to move.

Very puzzled can this be rectified, providing i can find a shop to undertake a repair, bearing in mind the possible cost of a repair, or would it simply be more cost effective to purchase a new model? utton 'refuses' to

Check to make sure that the tabs on the bottom of your cassette aren't "popped out" ... the problem mentioned usually occurs on a write-protected tape.
