Vacuum wiring?

what now? which wires go to what? original motor has 2 red wires. one goes to reset/overload and the other goes to a black wire in the wand connection. the new motor has one black wire with a metal clip and one white wire. should i cut off the tip and connect to black wire in the wand? has a 3 connection circuit-motor-reset-wand. i checked my newer kenmore and the black wire goes to a light-the old one doesnt have a light.

Yes, the replacement motor will work the same. Just cut the connectors off of the wires on the replacement motor. Then use wire nuts to connect them to the original connections. Colors of wires do not matter.
