Can this machine work on cold water fill only, if so, how do we connect it up?

You can use this machine on cold fill only. You need to get a Y connector. Just fit the connector to the cold tap, then the hot and the cold fill hoses to the connector also. And that's it. You can purchase a Y connector from any domestic appliance repair or spare shop. About £2.00 at the most. Good luck!
