My car cassett/radio player will not process the tape cassett right. ?

I have a 1991 Lexus wich has a cassett/radion player installed. All functions work accept the casset player. When I put it in the slot it registers (Tape Playing) and then ejects the tape out. Can this be fixed, and by who and how much will it cost?
