How to replace spool and line on McCulloch Trim Mac 250?

It is not clear how to replace the line on my McCulloch Mac 250 strimmer. The bolt will not unscrew and the instructions on the base are obtuse.

you have to push the center cap inwards then twist and pull outwards at the same time while using a bit of forcefulness.
