Probably, yes.
However, if you live in the UK you can get a viewing card for all Sky Boxes, free of charge (ask Sky for details) which allows you access to many channels which have copyright protection without the card. The card has your geographic location in order to serve the channels for your location, eg. 101 BBC1 TV.
