master socket,BT?

Im having probs with my phone line,the colours of the wires coming from outside into the socket are Orange,Black,Green,White and there are 3 yellow wires now the Orange is connected to the 2 connector and the White is connected to the 5 connector the trouble is my phone wont ring can anyone help me with this, thankyou..

Sounds as if the capacitor in the master socket is at fault. BT may charge you if it is not, so first check your phone for any switches that may have been accidentally switched off. If possible try with another phone. If the fault is still on give BT a call. They are responsible up to and including the master socket.

First of all, you are not allowed to monkey with the BT Master Socket and the incoming cable. That is the BT DEMARCATION POINT.

So leave the Orange, Black, Green, and White wires alone.

You appear to have an old style Master Socket, however the incoming pair of wires are correctly connected to 2 and 5

If your phone does not ring then it is possible that the phone is either faulty or/and very old. Swap the phone for a new one. If that does not fix the fault, call BT.
