problems with thomson DTI6300-16 today?

Our box has just stopped working today, we have tried turning it off at the power for ages but when we put it on we get the red and green lights flashing and every so often a sequence of lights, but it just keeps going to red and then we cant turn it on with the remote. any ideas?

after a software download you may find your recordings will not play.they are there in the menu but do not run in the preview screen.i was told by top-up/tv that if they are not in the screen, you will have to format the drive.Not always so,go to main menu,press 4-setup,press 6 help,then press the green button & try the yellow button,SOFTWARE REVERT,if it appears on the screen.this has worked for me,not always,but theres nothing lost if you have to format anyway.

Since analogue BBC signal switched off at Winterhill,i have got BBC wales channels instead, theyare rubbish as the picture and sound both freeze. I later found the proper BBC channels further down the list round 816, but they freeze also. Any ideas how to cure this? Done multiple rescans, with aerial out and in, but nothing helps. My aerial is 12 months old and is a digital aerial(if there is such a thing).

Well I also had the lockout problem on my new box that I only bought today! I tried the above mentioned unlock procedure and after the 6th attempt it finally worked! I am regretting buying this unit now though for the hassle I have had with it on only the first day!!!

Since following thisi procedure to fix the corrupt file issue I'm unable to use series recording and also create a favorite channels list. Any body else come up with these problems.

the procedure on the website worked for me third time
you must wait 20secs then hit the standby button quickly and repeatedly .
as soon as the amber lite goes steady quickly hit up down left right in that order quick as you can ,after a few seconds the red lite comes on and you can take it from there .speed is the essence

The fix worked for me but all the recorded programs are gone. If it was not for the info here I would have probably gone out and bought another one. Thanks for the info.

This fault is due to a broadcast issue which has led to a corrupt file being loaded onto the hard disk. For a solution paste the following address into your browser. Unfortunately you will lose all your recorded (library) files and will have to reprogram all your channel info etc.

Just looked at TUTV website under Help Centre. Note: the problem they have been made aware of over the last few days regarding corrupt download is under the heading "Does your Thomson DTi6300 fail to power on normally" with the sub heading "and displays a solid amber light?" their fix is to reformat the drive!!However, two items down in the Help Centre list is "What to do: if you have a solid amber light". This procedure reverts to a previous version of software. TRY THIS FIRST! It worked for me, albeit on the second attempt, but TUTV does state timing is critical and wait 20+ seconds before restoring power.

Problem as described above this morning with constant amber light followed by intermittent green flashing. Procedure 1 worked for me, try this first before reformatting disk. make sure you wait at least 20 seconds, 10 is not long enough. Thanks to Help for the fix. I bet "help" works for TUTV...

They screwed up a software download on Sunday night.
See top up tv web site and select help.
The following information is detailed as of the morning of Tuesday 5th.

Two procedures, the first to revert to previous standard of software and if that fails the second to reformat the hard drive hence re-initialising the box.

Does your Thomson DTi6300 fail to power on normally?
We have been made aware of an issue causing some Thomson DTi6300 boxes to fail come out of standby (to solid green light). Typically the box will show a constant amber light. If this has affected your box and you have tried to power the box off and on at the wall at least twice, please try the following procedures:

Procedure 1: Front Panel Reset (software revert)
Note: you will need to be able access the back of the DTR and the front panel buttons and it may take several attempts to get this to work as it is all in the timing!

1. Remove power to the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the DTR.
2. Wait 20 seconds and restore the power cable while holding in the standby/power on button on the front panel of the DTR.
3. Release the standby button immediately you see a light ?blip? on the DTR front display and then immediately press the following front panel arrow buttons quickly and in the sequence Menu then OK
4.The DTR will now show the Orange LED with the Green LED flashing until the revert has been completed in about 60 seconds. The DTR will return to ON automatically.
5. If requested, perform a channel scan to complete the operation

Procedure 2. Front Panel Reset (Reformat HDD)
Attention: this will unfortunately cause your recordings to be lost.
Remove power to the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the DTR.
2. Wait 20 seconds and restore the power cable while holding in the standby/power on button on the front panel of the DTR.
3. Release the standby button immediately you see a light ?blip? on the DTR front display and then immediately press the following front panel arrow buttons quickly and in the sequence Up>Down>Left>Right
