How do I fix my Commodore 64 monitor?

The sound goes in and out and the screen flickers. And just now it got shorted. Is this fixable?

Sounds like dry joints in the power supply. Resoldering may be all thats needed. Another possibility, as this is an old product, is a leaky main smoothing capacitor or arcing mains switch. Needs prompt attention, as it will inevitably fail with more expensive consequences if run in this condition.
