I did that once - phoned a friend and he told me to try without entering a password - it worked, I hadn't put one in. Hope this works for you too.

I have no intention of revealing on an open forum how to bypass passwords and I hope that no on else will either. It would be a recipe for even more stolen laptops. (I am sure that you laptop isn't stolen but I hope that you get my point.)

However there are several passwords that could be on the PC. If it is the Windows password, take the PC with proof of ownership and ID to a local computer shop and they ought to be able to help you.

If, however it is a hardware based password, they are designed to turn stolen laptops into scrap and so you will be a bit stuck if that is the one that has been set.
