Leaking Kitchen mixer tap?

My elderly (40+years) kitchen mixer tap is of the two-whole dack type with separate hot and cold taps.
When I open the hot tap, water leaks down the rising hot water feed pipe underneath the sink, with a slight dribble from the deck/pivot area too.
Is this cureable, or do I have to replace the whole unit?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

no problem, turn off the hot water,at the hot water tank or in the roof, undo the hot tap joint and insert a fiber washer, easy to obtain at any plumbers merchant, ask for a 1/2"fiber tap washer,re the leak from the spout.you will have to remove and replace the rubber washer, look at the rear of the spout and undo the small grub scrw.FIRST BLOCK THE PLUG HOLE OR THE SCREW WILL GO DOWN, then pull up on the spout and it will disconnect, you will see 2 rubber washers remove and replace with new washers, reassemble in reverce order.PS you do not have to turn off the water to undertake the spout leak
