tv screen solid blue?

i have a philips magnavox 13" or 15" color tv model: PR1308B101. the problem is that after it has been on for just a few minutes, the screen turns blue and i lose sound & picture. it flickers like this every few minutes. when the picture is there, it's great. can someone tell me how to solve this problem? i have already checked all my connections and found them all to be good. please help. thank you....

Not something you should do unless qualified to do so and it would only confirm what's already fairly certain...tube failure. Not worth electrocuting yourself over :) Be safe and buy new.

Thanks for the info. Is the tapping the tube something i should try while the set is on? Should i just fork over the green for a new tv?

Sounds suspiciously like an intermittent short inside the tube :(
You might try tapping the neck of the tube very lightly to see if the symptoms come or go or viewing the tube neck in a darkened room, while looking for any sign of arcing within the tube.
