MIRA SPORT 10.8 SHOWER :- shower not working?

Stand-by power indicator isnt lit, although using a circuit tester the shower is recieving power....just wondering if anyone knew of a common fault with these showers or is it a case of calling out an electrician? The shower is only about 2 yrs old , I would have thought it should last a bit longer than this given the fact it isnt in constant use. thanks for any help you can offer.

We have the same shower. Had it repaired twice under warranty both times new PCB Assembly. Apparently Mira have improved the design of this at least once following troubles with showers dieing caused by ‘spikes’ in the electricity supply.

Our shower went wrong in a different way yesterday. It stopped suddenly with no change in temperature of flow and caused RCD to trip out in the fuse box. Turned power back on and tried again. Shower remained cool at normal setting so turned the dial. Temperature increased slightly then circuit tripped again.

This time I suspect the fault lies with the Heater Tank or the Thermal Switch. Does anyone have experience of this and know which part I should replace? The Heater Tank is a lot more expensive than the switch but I don’t want to have to take it apart more than once if I can help it! Help pin pointing the problem would be most welcome.

There is a pdf of the manual on this site: http://www.tradecounter.com/dbdocs/mirasport10-8.pdf_tcc_13-02-04.pdf

I don't have an answer, but we have exactly the same shower - Mira 10.8 - also about 2 years old, and exactly the same symptom. It appears totally dead.

I've popped the lid off and established that the thermal cut off is ok. However the microcontroller board has no volts anywhere. I suspect the 240-5v power supply circuit has failed. This is a bit harder to get at, so it's only a preliminary diagnosis.

CAUTION: Don't poke about in these things with power on unless you're suitably qualified and/or experienced. The 240v live is quite exposed.

We have hard water too, but that doesn't cause electronics to fail!

We dont usually have a problem with hard water in this area (Lancashire) but will be interested to know if this shower can be fixed easily. would hard water problem cause the showers standby light to be off? thanks for replying tho :)
