banging heating ?

when i turn on my heating it fires up ok then after a few seconds it makes a banging noise the water pressure needle moves then the heating goes off the rads are ok but no hot water

Check the Circulating Pump, you don't say what make or type of boiler you have, but pump seems likely culprit
