1987 MICRA REPLACEMENT POINTS?

HOW DO I CHANGE THE POINTS ON MY 1L 1987 MICRA AND ARE THERE ANY SETTING IF SO WHAT?

THANKS
TDK, May 2009
The contact breaker points are usually on a swivelling plate held on to the distributor by two small screws. One is an anchor, the other is the adjuster/anchor. Take these screws out and disconnect the capacitor by unscrewing a small screw holding the shovel lead in place. Remove old points - install new points in the opposite way. Ensure ignition is off and car is in second gear with handbrake off. Rock car gently and watch distributor cam open points. When the cam is opening the points to their maximum, you should gently undo the adjuster screw and open the points to 15 thousands of an inch. Measure this with a feeler guage. Tighten screw up, replace distributor cap. The car should now start and run.
