what is wrong with transmision/torq-conv on my Jcb 3cx 2 wheel dr.1981?

No forward/reverse drive.Tor/conv fluid at correct level now, however it was much too high previously, Mr Toad. Gear stick moves easily into gear slots when forward/reverse is selected with clutch pedal not depressed. Linkage from foward/reverse stick looks intact and rotates the thingy 180 degrees on the housing.

My only other suggestion would be to make sure the valve operated by the dump pedal is closed when the pedal is released. A collapsed gearbox mounting rubber can cause the linkage to tighten up, as could a bent link rod to the gearbox. Otherwise I suggest a more professional appraisal as it could be a problem in the gearbox/torque convertor. Lets hope not, look at the easy bits first!
