how to fixe my evolution hulk plate compactor?

i have an evolution hulk plate conpactor with no user manual. when i try to start it wont. no fuel getting through. fuel goes to carb . i have manually squirted fuel into chamber and it starts, runs a couple of seconds and dies. wondering if fuel blocked somewhere or if there is some priming procedure to go through?

I too cleaned the carb jets with compressed air to no avail.
I have a mechanic friend who looked at the spark plug 'spark' to me it was fine but to the expert eye the spark was yellow weak and jumping from the insulator to the body, we ditched the old chinese crap and everything works fine now. I've been tinkering with internal comb engines for 50 years and never too old to learn.

just cleaned the carb out on mine and starts first time now must have had a small bit of something on the jet

Mine was a problem starting all I did was remove the main jet and clean it out. I also fitted a long reach spark plug and it stars easily now.

hi

I need to know weather the valves have a certain setting as I've stripped down the engine and taken the valve timing crank out dose it have a certain way of putting it back in so the piston and valves run in sink or dose it not matter

hi have one of these with a similar problem, stripped the carb down and found that a small orifice screw at the bottom of the pickup pipe in the bottom chamber was blocked. Cleared this out and now starts ok, but will need to set up the carb again as i have altered all the other settings checking out for blockages etc.

I bought a hulk wacker , it starts ok but just doesn't go on it own ? Can anybody help ?

hi does anybody know the the gap you set the ignition coil at on these hulk compactors, i have no spark and want to make sure the coil pack is set to correct gap on magneto on flywheel.
Also is there anyway to test the coil to see if it working or not before i buy one.

I have a hulk wacker, that starts ok and ticks over, but when i increase the revs it cuts out, fuel is getting through ok, any ideas would be grateful

assembled by chinese children who can,t tighten thing properly i found my choke butterfly stuck in the valve as the screws had shaken lose the best thing for this engine is the scrap yard and replace with a honda or electric motor

Mine had a faulty on-off switch.
To check it disconnect the earth terminal from below the fuel tank and insulate it temporarily.

ive had same problem with mine. fuel was getting to carb but still wouldnt start. tried putting fuel into plug chamber and it did fire briefly. at that point i decided to check plug and found it was a chinese ld e6tc with 12.7mm thread whereas recommended ngk bpr8es has 19mm. its definitely worth checking plug before tinkering with carb

I have similar problems... no fuel getting through for starting engine. I have had it looked at by a plant hire firm and by a separate plant fitter who I have known for a long time.
The plant fitter seems to think the carb may be set up incorrectly and need adjusting, though I do have a manual, it is no help here! unless anyone knows the correct settings, i will continue with my usual starting method....
1) remove spark plug
2) pour a small amount of fuel into spark plug chamber
3) replace spark plug
4) set throttle to just above minimum revs (there is a position clearly defined by a small amount of resistance as you push the lever across towards minimum
5) switch on fuel, ignition switch and set choke (fullly off, but try fully on if no luck starting)
6) pull starter cord like billio!
7) knock choke off (if required)
8) allow to run for a minute, then SLOWLY increase throttle revs.
9) if you try to re-start when warm, it may start first pull, just ensure throttle is set low as before..

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

(P.S. I will never by an EVOLUTION product again!!!)

It sounds like a carburettor problem from the symptoms described.
Check the float valve in the float chamber is working. Check that for a fuel filter and make sure it is not blocked. Check the carburettor Main Jet is not blocked.
Throttle cables are actually operating the throttle correctly etc.
With such a small engine it is very easy to get some for of debris into the fuel tank which finds its way into the carburettor and blocks one of the small carburettor orifices.
Good luck
