my daughter has forgotten her password for her laptop how can we change it

Hi, did you manage to sort this out? My 13 year old daughter has forgotten her password. She can use her laptop via another user account but cannot use defrag or download 3rd party software since it asks for the password we dont know. The laptop is getting slower and slower obviously requiring a defrag and other maintenance which we cannot do.

Bios password or windows password? If its bios you have to pull a jumper on the motherboard, if its windows i may be able to help. is it xp or vista?
