Following on from my original question re. my faulty amplifier. Earlier last week I happened to glance at another site and found the exact same problem had been asked, the answer given was that it was probably a faulty capacitor. The person whose amp. it was tried the solution and it worked so I thought I would give it a go. I promptly took the amp. apart desoldered the suspect capacitor and soldered a new one in its place, lo and behold after 5yrs my amp now works again. The Capacitor in question was a 33 micro Farad, 50v, 85°, above resistor no R15. It has taken an awful long time to get it fixed but it was well worth the wait. One point, the replacement capacitor is a 105d not an 85 as previous, hopefully it will last longer.
