How to fix a blinking lamp?

My lamp blinks in all movement positions of the arms and head. Once in a while the lamp will stay on when first turned on, but after the arm is repositioned or bumped the lamp blinks and won't stay on. Please send ideas, thanks.

Obviously a poor connection somewhere - if the bulb is a screw in type examine the central connector down the middle of the holder (unplugged obviously) and try to pull the spring contact up a little with a hook or a tiny screwdriver.
