The automatic focassing has ceased on my Canon EOS 350d?

Although I can still use this camera manually, I need to fix this asap as there are many features that I cannot access and focassing manually is a real pain - please help!

if possible,try another lens on camera,motor in lens may have died.
try wiping contacts on back of lens and on camera body

hold camera monitor up when cleaning contacts this way will avoid anything falling on sensor.
