An item bought new should be "fit for purpose" i.e. it should not stop working within a very short time of use. Refer to goods and services if the broken down item has failed out of warranty. It may be a lengthy process but worth it in the long run. Innitial complaint should be made to the place of purchase. Taking out extended warranties should not be a necessity.
