Protection normally comes on when there is a problem with the loudspeakers (short circuit on the speaker cable, or speakers impedance is too low). The protection will deactivate automatically when the problem is removed (although it is better to switch off the amplifier while looking for the fault, and switch back on when you think you've resolved it). There is no way to switch off protection with or without the remote.
By the way, my sony amp, same model, has a fault with the protection circuit, and protection comes on randomly even when there is no problem in speakers or the cable.
