Hedge trimmer sounded louder after hitting thick wire?

I have a black & decker hedge trimmer which after catching on a thick metal wire started to sound louder. I used the trimmer for another 10 mins & now the mechanism has stopped working & the electric motor sounds jammed. Is this repairable?

I think the drive gear has stripped a tooth or two...its very unlikely that this would be economic to repair.
