how can i fix my bulb socket?

i tried to put a new bulb in but the thing that holds the bulb has rotted away, how do i fix a hole new bulb socket in?

If it's a ceiling rose socket, then you simply replace the rose, if it's a wall light socket, then you need to remove the socket and replace it. This can be the same as a ceiling rose socket, but more infomation may help
