How do I repair my Kenmore canister vacuum model 116.23612300?

I need to replace the cord on the power mate attachment of my Kenmore canister vacuum model 116.23612300. I have the replacement cord and have removed the cover plate and identified the cord to replace, but it passes next to/under the pile height changer and I don't know how to fully access/remove the cord I need to replace. How do I further take the power mate apart to get to the rest of the cord?

The powermate cord is snug between small latches direectly on the base. you have to remove the Height adjuster cam and depending on the model the Overload breaker as well. Pull the cap off where the plug is, and the cord itself connects Black (LEAD) to the overload breaker and White (Nuetral) to the other neutral cords. tHe Height adjuster snaps out, pry the end near the nozzle support out with a flathead screwdriver and that the majority of it.

You can call Sears Parts Repair at (800)-4-MY-HOME. They always have it in stock. Try any other way and you're headed directly for Korea. Have the right Model Number Handy and, if you're a do-it-yourselfer, pay attention to how you put them in because, If you don't follow directions on the new ones, you can short them out prematurely! Good Luck!
