The first thing is to check the fridge's thermostat setting-what has it been set too? It may be that somebody has knocked it. To do this there should be a dial inside the fridge with numbers on. Turn it to a lower number i.e if it is set on five turn it to three etc. If there is not then your fridge is more modern. The setting function is likely to be above the fridge door on a push button type strip. You could always refer to your original manual for help with this. If you no longer have your manual many manufacturer's also have their manuals online. Also, it could possibly be the seal. You could try running a hair dryer around the seal while gently, (gently is the key word here) pulling the seal out away from the fridge door. Failing this it could be that the thermostat could need replacing. I don't think it should be all that expensive to do. Ring an appliance shop and ask for an estimate or if you have someone that is handy order a new thermostat after trying the above first and replace it yourself. If it is a modern fridge it is unlikely it would be a problem with the gas. However, if you ever transport a fridge to move home-try to keep it upright and always leave it twenty four hours prior to turning it back on so that the gas in it can resettle. Hope any of this helps.
