Playstation 2 slimline spinner is spinning noisey?

HI!!!! When I put a game in my Slimline PS2 it cranks up with a noisey spinning churning sound, it sounds like the spinning bracket is misbalenced, can I fix it, I will give anything a go, except buying another PS2 they are Sh## with a capital S!

If you take the PS2 apart there is a white corkscrew that moves the laser these can be prone to some gunk on them. Normally a cotton ear bud to clean the gunk can sort them
