The agitator in my washing machine appears to have come loose from what normally holds it in place snf stops any water from overflowing or causing the clothes continually to overbalance the machine. What is the agitator meant to be held in place with and what parts do I need to remove so as to fix the problem please?

The agitator is held in place with a 10mm hex head bolt down in the centre of the agitator. The bolt screws in to the top of the gearbox shaft.
