how can I fix my 1920 westminster clock chimes?

I can not stop the clock from chiming. It will chime 20+ times for 5 o'clock. 10 chimes for 3 o'clock etc. The only markings I can find for make or model is K.C. Co Germany. It was a wedding present to my grandparents 1920. Thanks for any help you can give me. I love the clock but it is drivng me crazy.

Carmen, depending on the type of striking mechanism you have will determine the course of repair. With either a "count wheel" or a "rack and snail" device they both have levers that are dropped into the path of a stop pin. From what you describe above, the lever is not dropping properly and allowing the clock to chime randomly. You will have to seek professional help to get this repaired.
