If the switch needs to be replaced simply repace it with a normal closed loop surface alarm contact it works great.
You will not be able to buy the part for the treadmill but this is an easy solution since the switch is a reed switch which is the same as used in any house alarm.
$4.00 to replace an expensive part that Sportcraft will not have in stock or is unwilling to sell.

If your machine needs a new sensor, forget calling Sportcraft. They aren't storing parts, at least not for the tx400 model even though it is less than 10 years old. (crummy company).

E3 – No speed sensor reading. Unit shuts down. This is the most difficult repair diagnose. The speed sensor is connected to the frame of the treadmill near the drive pulley on the front roller. There is a small magnet on the side of the pulley wheel. The sensor tip must be no more than 5mm from the magnet. If for any reason the distance is greater than 5mm the treadmill will shutdown.
Q The Speed Sensor doesn’t seem to work.
A 1. Remove the motor cover from the machine using a Philips head screwdriver. Then remove the cover from the treadmill.

2. Locate the speed sensor, and the pulley wheel. The pulley wheel is in the end of the front roller. Across from the pulley wheel is the speed sensor.

3. Check that the pulley wheel has a magnet on it. If you see a magnet go to the next step. If the magnet is missing call for replacement.

4. Now check the speed sensor. It should be 5mm away from the magnet, if for any reason the distance is greater than 5mm the treadmill will shutdown. The distance between the speed sensor and the pulley should be equal to the width of two nickels. If the distance is greater than the width of two nickels loosen the two screws holding in the sensor and adjust the sensor.

5. If the problem persists check the black and red wire coming from the sensor for any small cuts or breaks. If there are any cuts or breaks your speed sensor needs to be replaced.

6. Finally try cleaning the tip of the speed sensor with alcohol.
