the pilot light keeps going out? ?

the pilot light keeps going out and wont stay alight

Sorry - this isn't an answer, but a question in the same thread.

I have the same problem. To be more specific, I have a Netaheat Profile boiler. The hot water comes on at the specified time, but the pilot light fails to ignite. I can light the pilot light by clicking on a button on the underside of the boiler, but it only stays on for a couple of minutes, therefore I have no hot water.

I'm hoping there's a simple solution, as I'm unemployed (credit crunch victim) and can't afford to call out a plumber/heating engineer. Thanks for any suggestions.

it won't come on again if the thermocouple is faulty.

On my boiler (you don't mention the make & model of yours) when it's asked to heat water the fan runs and a pressure switch senses that it's working OK then the control board opens the pilot valve and makes sparks to light it and then a sensor detects that the pilot flame is OK and then the control board opens the Main Gas Valve.

When the water is hot enough it all shuts down - Main Valve, Pilot flame and fan.

If your pilot flame "keeps going" out then it must by definition keep coming on as well.

Is the system heating water properly?
