How can I get my remote control to work?

Our Audiosonic TV is only about 15 months old and the remote control has stopped working. Have changed the batteries but it didn't help. Any ideas?

The tv is working and the remote control is clean but it just doesn't work with new batteries.

You can often see if these remote control devices working by looking at them through the lens of a digital camera. It might be the remote or it might be the TV - has a child smeared Marmite of Jam over the TV's lens?
