If it is the one stored in a security chip on the motherboard then you have had it. They are designed to turn stolen laptops into scrap.
If it is the Windows password then it is possible to reset it but I am not going to post how to on an open forum and I hope that no one else will either as it would be a recipe for even more stolen laptops.
If it is the Windows password, take the laptop to a local computer shop with proof of ID and and ownership and I am sure that they will be able to help you.
