Absolutely right - but not illegal unless accepting payment or a landlord.

Ring-Ring

"Hello Mr RGI person, please come to my house and conduct a safety inspection on my heating system - I'll pay the usual rate."

Landlords are obliged to do this anually, by law - there is no restriction that prevents a private person doing the same - in fact the HSE rcommend that people do this.

So there...

if you are competent by all means.
and how would you prove your competent to the h & s.

you got no prove of ever doing any gas training
you have no tools/equipment to test the gas appliance.
the list is endless.

its also illegal to sign off anyones elses work under the gas safety regs
and any installer that puts his name to someone elses work needs his head tested.

if you have to ask how to do something your also not competent.

I don't think it's illegal - not unless your're a landlord or accepting payment - then it's illegal but not for a private person working on thier own installation.

Safety is a different matter altogether. If you do the work yourself and have it checked by a Registered Gas Installer then it meets all requirements...

Always up to be challenged...
