Having paid for an engineer to view the boiler, he has diagnosed the diverter valve as faulty and letting heated water go into the central heating. Average part cost £150?? without labour cost - probably in excess of an hour. Could I source and plumb this myself?

diverter vavle migth cost a lot but the diaphram inside which usualy needs replaceing is only cheap about a tenner its just easier to change the diverter valve than to fix the problem you need to take the diverter out unscew it and fit new diaphram put it all back so they cut corners and change the whole unit
