Electric Mira shower has water gushing out the bottom?

...water is no longer coming out the shower head, it is gushing out the bottom. Does anyone know the reason why? should I get a plumber in or just replace the electric shower??

sparks won't touch prd's

hi-spec plumbing & heating (essex), July 2009
"A pressure relief device (PRD) in the shower unit is a safety feature designed to operate if an excessive build up of pressure occurs; a blockage in the sprayplate for example.

In the unlikely event that the PRD activates it will eject water. Switch off the electricity to the shower at the double pole switch and turn off the water supply at the isolating stopvalve.

Contact a qualified Electrician or Service Engineer for advice on replacing the PRD."

Now I know what a prd is...
