is it possible to change a pvc frontdoor without changing the frame?

The locking system on my frontdoor is going but it is an old door and I'm having a hard job trying to find a new lock. Is it possible to change the door without changing the frame? how would this affect me getting a new lock, would a new locking system on the door just mean changing the strap on the frame for the hooks and rollers to fit into. The lock I want is about £110 thats without fitting.

I think you could be entering a pvc minefield here...as you are aware, most new pvc doors come complete with their own frame and locking gear. I wouldn't expect any replacement lock to simply fit in to your door - life just isn't like that, unfortunately - unless you can get a hold of the same make of lock from the manufacturer. Purely my own opinion though - you could call out a professional locksmith for a better opinion.
