JD 118 Tractor will not start or turnover?

JD 118 tractor will not turnover. Could it be the seat safety switch? How do I check this? What would be next? Battery charged, terminals cleaned. Free wheeling lever in.

Hi,
Check to see if current is going to the starting motor by using a tester of some sort. Either a multimeter or circuit tester. If no elecricity is going to the motor then work backward testing the components in order till you find where the current stops and determine if that component is faulty. You might even find a broken wire doing these tests. Bye the way, if you get current at the starting motor and it does not spin then perhaps that motor needs attention as it may be the root cause of your problem. Your seat switch can be tested by these testers also. To do this, activate the switch and probe both sides of the switch to see if the current is passing through thus completing the circuit. I hope this is of some help.
