Sony Ericsson W910i (can't load new Firm wear)?

Hi all, This is my First Post so please take it easy

Ok, I have a W910i that has started playing up a few weeks ago (turning its self off mainly at the most inconvenient moments), I started reading up about how to fix it the last week i started getting a Charging error.

I thought as the phone didn't appear to be charging properly the Wall charger must be faulty so i bought a new one which didn't fix the problem, yesterday i was using my phone with 1/4 battery life when it turned off and i couldn't get it back on. Now when i put it on charge the red light comes on and there is a ticking noise coming from the ear speaker, i have also tried to plug it into my computer in an attempt to get some stuff off it but the computer doesn't recognize it (probably as its off) and this time the red light is on but there is a Buzzing through the ear speaker.

I am now left in a situation where my phone is not working and the shop i got it from doesn't want to know making up excuses that because its 8 months into a contract i'm trying to get a new phone out of them???

I did some reading up and it looks like my Firm wear needs upgrading but the problem is i can't tell if the battery is fully charged even though a mate charged it up in his phone and the SE web site Updater won't run past the "Press C down and plug the USB cable in" Part.

So can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.
Chris

Ok tell the shop that they are talking utter rubbish. If you live in U.K. also remind the shop that the phone manufacturer offer a 12 months warrantee on all handsets. When the guy at the shop diagnosed liquid damage, is he a fully qualified technician, and if so what test has he carried out to diagnose liquid damage? The guy is just a sales assistant.

Now back to the problem. If you take the back cover and the battery off your phone, there should be a white round sticker thats there for no apparent reason.
If this is still white, that rules out the liquid damage. Also look on the battery near the connector there is another similar sticker; if this is white same as above.

Now by what you are describing, this phone needs updating, not just the software(easily done on sony ericsson website) but also the phone firmware. for this specific update you need your local phone repair shop as you will need to access the boot-loader.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to confuse, I was told by the shop it had been damaged by Water but to my knowledge it has never got wet, IMHO i think they where fobbing me off because the guy who looked at it didn't even take the battery cover off, he just pressed the on button for a few seconds and flicked the phone open and closed a few times.

After doing some more reading up i'm starting to think the Battery is so flat its either damaged or the phone is not supplying the power from the charger. The thing that makes me think its not charging is the battery used to get warm (not hot just you could feel it was warmer than room temp) when it had been charged over night, now it doesn't do that hence the reason i'm thinking its battery related.

If it is liquid damaged it would be easier and cheaper to buy a new one than repair it.

I took it back to the shop today, they are telling me that its been submerged in water so so is not covered by warntee..... I asked how much it would cost to repair it and they quoted £45 to diagnose it then what ever it cost to repair....

If the handset is only 8 months old the place you bought it from will get the firmware upgraded for free under warranty.
