satalite broadband - add laptop?

we have satelite broadband. we want to add a laptop to that setup how do we do it and what do we need? ie do we need a router?

You could use MS Internet Connection Sharing. See the MS site for how to. But that requires both PCs to be on and can be fiddly to set up and so a router would be best.

Assuming your Satellite modem has an Ethernet connection, you need to get a so-called Cable router. (So-called because they are mostly used with Cable Modems.)

The upstream port of a 'Cable' router is Ethernet. You take the Ethernet cable from your Satellite modem and plug it into that port.

DO NOT buy a router with a built-in ADSL modem. It will NOT work.
