A toilet fresh which hangs over the toilet bowl fell in the toilet and was flushed away blocking the toilet. Should I push it further away with rods or disconnect the toilet to try and find it?

The toilet Fresh may have gone round the bend and be blocking a pipe further down. Before anything drastic lift the cover of the inspection pit (if you have one) and take a peek - it might save you a lot of effort for a two minute investigation. If the pit is empty then go for a bend cleaning - dismantling is best left until you've tried the easier approaches.
